Food date

Last Saturday was a date of sorts with some of my girl friends. We went to this food gathering event in NBC called Best Food Forward. Kumbaga tampulan ng lahat ng pwedeng makain. At hindi lang basta makakain, yung mga tipong hindi pang mainstream. Perfect! I like uncharted regions in the food dept.

And i took the liberty of trying to look like a food blogger with a camera in tow. Ang hirap pala. I can't sustain most especially when i'm beholding that piece of salted caramel cookie.
But i still tried and here are some.

so these are specialized kind of chocolates. Specialized in a pabalat way.

I didn't get to taste them because i am quite drawn by the designs. It could be hard to throw them away  once you start to munch on what's inside.

Also there are a lot of gourmet stuff going on too like these ones.

cracker dips
artisan salt from Premio
Question--How come this boom on salt? I mean, asin lang sila. They're thrown around in the sumo wrestling arena, tasted on thy skin and tears and they're used on practically any cooked food but now they're on cookies and milk tea drinks! Is this a new life for the lowly salt? Or just a revamp since now they come in bottles? like Salt version 2 point 0? haha. As for me, I like iodized salt on my suha slices. Yammeeeeh!

this is some really pure simmered goat's milk dip also from Premio

Sweets must always be present in food gatherings. Yes, life is good with them around.

polvoron topped with cartoons!
But i think the best find for me is this, the Basil Seed with Honey Juice.

drinks from Coco Royal (Thai product)

And after much scouring and tasting i also scored some to take home. Here's what i bought.

1. The Basil Seed with Honey Juice of course! Masarap, tastes like gulaman. The Basil seeds look funny though.
2. KEWPIE Roasted Sesame Dressing-- amazing thing if married with some salad greens. I think this is the one used in the salad in Pepper Lunch.
3. Premio's Cocoa and Plain Cajeta-- just out of curiosity and it says its non fattening.
4. Think Twink's Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies-- because of the salted thing and it tastes good too.
5. Deep Dips Spicy Tinapa dip-- because i'm into tinapa and the seller is sooo nice. Mainam din na ma PR ang nagbebenta.

And that same day, we had wine from 4pm til 7pm. Stormed out to score some fantastic pizza and pasta in this little nice resto at the Fort Strip---The Sunshine Kitchen. Then had some deserts at Slice. I think we have bonded too much.

Best part is the in betweens we talk about while on this binge--like going to Greece, our semi battered childhood, beauty issues, Dora the Explorer, tennis, blunders and all that crap. Can i say hooray for good good friends? Indeed. Friends and food go together like shalalala dumpi ding kidong.
